There are some days I wish I could wear a t-shirt and a pair of old comfy jeans to work. Though there are plenty of places these days that are laid back enough to rock that outfit, it just wouldn’t be appropriate in my rather conservative office. However, since I love to push the dress code boundaries, you know I’m going to find a way.
A popular outfit is to toss a t-shirt under a blazer. However, I think that tucking something into anything high-waisted looks super classy. This is the key to pulling off a t-shirt at work. There is less of the t-shirt showing and a high waist gives an outfit a lot of structure, elevating a casual piece to something that’s more office appropriate.
I wore a simple, cotton crew neck t-shirt and paired it with trousers that sported all the chic details – high waist, wide leg, tie belt, and a front crease. The sewn-in crease is an especially convenient detail because it’s easier to iron but also adds a little tradition and sophistication. The neutral color palette keeps the outfit elegant and also transitions well from summer to fall. To top it off, a statement necklace dresses up any outfit and adds that special little flair. And, I do love little flair.

September 7, 2017 at 12:01 pmIt’s really just a simple cotton tee – but I went for something neutral and a crew neck, so it’s not the most obvious looking t-shirt.
