Welcome to Broadcloth!
As Bill Cunningham, the original street-style photographer said, “Fashion is the armor to survive the reality of everyday life.” For most of us, everyday life includes spending the majority of our day at work. That workplace could be the typical office setting, a creative startup, or a solo freelancer that meets with clients every day. Regardless of where you work, dressing for work shouldn’t be boring. In fact, I think it’s the perfect way to shine.
Broadcloth is a style blog, primarily focused on fashion for the modern working girl, with bits of lifestyle and travel thrown in… because all work and no play, would otherwise makes this boss lady very tired. 🙂
About the Author –
I’m Prerana (pronounced Prayer-na), a 30 something who regularly finds herself on the misadventures of figuring out life. Might as well start by putting my best [dressed] foot forward!
I love all things fashion and design related, but still a total nerd at heart. Most recently, I’ve rediscovered my love for ALL CAPS, in the absence of emotive fonts. I enjoy trying new things, exploring new places, dancing parties, and am very food (cheese!) motivated. Liz Lemon is my spirit animal.
Prerana’s Personal Style –
Like most people my age, I spend quite a few hours at the office, working a full-time job. As a result, the majority of my wardrobe follows suit. HOWEVER, (see, there’s that caps lock love) that’s no reason why you can’t have a fun, cool wardrobe that pushes the envelope just enough to show off your personality and set yourself apart during work hours and in your off time. I love versatile pieces that create a timeless, classic look, peppered with on-trend items. Statement necklaces are always appropriate.
There are thousands of fashion bloggers, how’s Broadcloth different?
I’m not going to pretend that my life is perfect and I doubt it will ever be picture perfect. I’m a regular girl, who’s trying to balance the hustle of life, love, and a career. That means, I’m not regularly wearing ripped boyfriend jeans, impossible stilettos, and backless shirts. Despite it being a fantastic look, I want readers of Broadcloth to find something that’s practical, relatable, affordable, maybe a little weird, and inspiring… with a few ‘treat yo self’ moments thrown in. Because everyone deserves beautiful things.
