I’ve heard so many ladies say that because they are on the petite side, they feel like they can’t do a bold print because it swallows them up. Midi dresses usually get the same excuse. I can totally sympathize, clocking in at a whopping 5’2″. However, that’s obviously not going to stop me!
This dress stopped me in my tracks (in reality: stopped my scrolling :D), the second I came across it. What I love about it and why I think it works, is because it plays up all the right optical illusions. It’s an obviously very bold print, but it’s muted color palette and the size of the pattern isn’t that large. On top of that, the pattern itself follows the natural curve of the body, so it brings the eye all the way down the longer midi length. Since it is a midi, heels are a must, even if it’s shorter side because they help elongate the body and the dress becomes less overpowering.
Best part of the outfit? You can play a Rorschach test on your sleeve when you’re bored.
Go be bold!
