After taking ten days off to romp through English countryside with a few friends (more on that in future posts), it’s back to work and back to reality. Though it’s been a week and I’m still sleeping off the jet lag, I find myself daydreaming about my adventures instead of focusing on whatever I should be doing.
A highlight of the trip was an evening at the Oriole in London. Descending the stairs, I swooned as I stepped back to a bygone era of dapper duds, delightful drinks, and swinging jazz. I felt at home – confident in my little black dress, red lips, and heels. This old soul found her happy place.
There is nothing more iconic than the LBD. It’s always appropriate, always in style and the perfect solution for any night out. I immediately fell in love with this particular one – simple and timeless, with just a hint of sass in the asymmetrical neckline. Wrinkle-free and with a bit of stretch, it was an easy choice to survive a week in a suitcase for a eventual night out in London.
In time, the lights went up, the music stopped, and we stepped back into present day. I’ll miss my little escape into that vintage oasis, but at least I know that my LBD will look just as good now as it did in the 40s.
Although I’m back home in D.C., my thoughts go out to Manchester after last night’s terrible events.

Then you will love the Oriole. If you ever find yourself booking a trip to London, make sure you make a reservation WELL in advance. They book up months in advance but it’s totally worth it. 🙂
