Oh hey there! It’s been a while, no? Well, you might remember from a previous post that I recently started a new job. It’s been pretty fun so far (minus the stressful days), but it’s been taking up most of my time lately, leaving very little for anything else.
Even the simple change of commuting to a different neighborhood has thrown my entire routine in a tizzy. It’s always the small things, isn’t it? But most of all, it’s just the learning curve of starting at a new job, no matter how many years of experience I have under my belt. Every company has a different style and a different way of doing things. I’m certainly being challenged and pushed to work outside my comfort zone, which is exactly what I wanted. But for the first few weeks, my internal monologue sounded a lot like this:
Oh god, oh god, oh god, oh god, oh god…. shit.
Now a couple of months in, the slight panic has died down and I think I’m settling in. I’m sure there will be plenty of “oh god, shit!” moments ahead of me but at least it feels par for the course now and I can get back to all the other things I love to do.
Styling tip:
I initially wanted to hem this skirt by about 4 inches so that it hit slightly below the knee. Midi lengths like this often feel like they cut off my legs in an awkward spot on my already petite frame. However, I decided to take a small fashion risk and keep the length and the drama. Plus, I just didn’t have the heart to cut off the pattern. Instead, I chose heels to add all the length I could get and kept the top simple so the skirt would be the star. I knotted my black tee for a fun, casual summer look. However, if your office is more conservative, you could simply tuck in a black silk tank. As usual, I plan to wear this skirt year-round and can’t wait to style with a merino wool sweater and boots for winter.
