I found myself in a conversation about personal style icons the other day. I said that I’d to go for something between Joan Holloway-Harris from Mad Men and James Dean. Classy, with a little badass and va-va-voom mixed in. It might be because I’m rewatching Mad Men again and feeling some inspiration from decades past. Unfortunately, the previous owners of most vintage pieces I find seem to be impossible tiny. So, instead, I look for modern pieces with a vintage vibe.
Styling Tip –
This a-line skirt has a classic 50s silhouette (minus the crinoline) but with a very modern print. To continue the vintage feel, I paired it with an elbow-length sweater and a pair of simple slingbacks. The pièce de résistance is the vintage beaded clutch from the 1950s. Because accessories are one size fits all! And though I’m not usually one for matching my lipstick to my outfit, a bold red lip is the perfect finishing touch.
I love the vibe of this whole post! So cute!

This feels VERY Joan to me! You look amazing!
I couldn’t decide if it was more Joan or Peggy. But, I’m fine with both because I love both! 🙂
Love this look on you! The styling tip is super helpful.
I love the look of that midi skirt on you. For me, midi can be a tricky length but you make it look so chic.
I’m only 5’2″ and I still go for midi skirts! I think it’s just about playing with proportions and making sure that nothing feels out of balance. Fear not, it does work for everyone!
I love the a-line style! I find it to be flattering on so many body types. Your shoes are also super gorgeous!
It’s a classic silhouette! I find that sometimes, it feels a little childish. But at this longer length, it’s elevating.
you look amazing! I wish I could dress as nice as you!!! you have such a great wardrobe!
super obsessed with your style and how cute these photos are! Love it!
Thank you so much!
