I think it’s safe to say that spring fever has officially hit. The temperature is in the 80s, every outdoor patio is filled at happy hour (I’m guilty of this as well, so I’m really not complaining), and there are floral prints and pastels EVERYWHERE.
Now, I love warm weather more than anyone, largely because it means I don’t have to channel my inner Ralphie/Randy every time I want to go outside.
However, I’ve never been one for the usual springtime look of florals and pastels. My favorite “sundress” is an all-black cotton dress with ruffles and shortsleeves. Nothing strappy, nothing pink, no flowers in sight. There’s a possibility I have a deep-seeded and unfounded fear of looking like an easter egg. OR, I just don’t think that baby blue is my color, despite my appreciation for the color pallette on others. However, I do have a certain love affair with neon colors, specifically bright yellow. I think that’s the [late] 80s child in me.
That’s why the moment I saw this skirt hanging on the rack at Anthropologie, I knew I had to have it. It was the most perfect combination of neon bright colors, done in a way that wasn’t screaming, “80s HERE I AM!” It’s classy, fun, and flirty. Best of all, it adds texture, which elevates almost any look. I upped the vintage feel by pairing the skirt with a simple white button down, tied at the waist and contrast pumps. It’s the perfect spring look for a quiet day at the office or the weekend afternoon at a baby/wedding shower.
