I admit that posting feels weird right now, amidst a rather tumultuous election cycle. I’ve been anxiously refreshing my browser as votes come in but then switching tabs to do a little retail therapy. But at least Sephora is having a sale! The Beauty Insider savings event kicked off last week and I’m stocking up because if 2020 has given us anything, it’s to take a moment for a little self-care. What started as a daily routine out of necessity has turned into a luxurious ritual where I get to focus on myself, however brief it might be. Add a sale on top of that? Now you’re really speaking my language.
Important things to know for the Sephora Holiday Savings Event. The sale is for Beauty Insiders (Sephora’s loyalty program) only. If you’re unsure which level you’re at, just log in, and you will see it at the top of the site.
- Rouge: 20 percent off from October 30 to November 9
- VIB: 15 percent off from November 3 to November 9
- Insider: 10 percent off from November 5 to November 9
Stocking up. These are my tried-and-true items that I stock up on whenever a sale comes around.
CLINIQUE Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator. I have tried a number of daily moisturizers over the years before landing on the Clinique Moisture Surge Hydrator. It’s super light, so I can’t “feel” it on my skin, but also effective in removing that “tightness” from dry skin. The only drawback is that it does not include SPF (but see the next item).
SUPERGOOP! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40. I found that most moisturizers that included an SPF always felt a little greasy, so I ended up for looking for separate products. Supergoop’s SPF fits the same criteria as the Clinique Moisturizer – lightweight, non-greasy, and absorbs quickly.
DRUNK ELEPHANT Protini™ Polypeptide Moisturizer. Okay, one more moisturizer to add to the list. As much as I love the Clinique Hydrator and use it year-round, I do find that I sometimes need an extra boost in the dry, colder months. That’s where the Drunk Elephant Protini PolypeptideMoisturizer comes in. It’s richer and more luxurious without feeling heavy, which is just that extra something I need in the winter, especially when layered with the Clinique Moisture Surge Hydrator.
boscia Luminzing Black Charcoal Mask. I find peeling a mask off incredibly satisfying, so I occasionally do the boscia Black Charcoal Mask, which leaves my skin feeling smooth and glowing.
BENEFIT COSMETICS Precisely, My Brow Pencil Ultra Fine Shape & Define. I’m not wearing very much makeup these days, but I still fill in my eyebrows. If I can’t get them threaded, then I might as well shape them up with a little makeup. This pencil is the goldilocks of brow pencils – not too thin, not too dark, and not too expensive – it’s just right. Not to mention, it lasts all day. It’s a perfect thing to stock up on during a sale.
Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer. I splurged on the Dyson Hair Dryer a couple of years ago during the sale. For something that rarely goes on sale, the Sephora Holiday Sale is the perfect time to get a deal and treat yourself (or someone else too) to an early holiday present.
New Things to Try Out. I’m in the market for a new eye cream that will help my under eye circles and prevent future wrinkles. From my research, these two clean options are at the top of my list to try out.
