The summer has been a busy one, filled with a lot of life changes that will hopefully inspire a future blog post. It’s the main reason why I took an impromptu hiatus; I was spread too thin. Unfortunately, admitting that you can’t do everything and be everywhere is a hard pill to swallow. However, I am committed to finding more balance in my life again – saying no more often, taking time for myself, and most of all, finding ways to be more efficient and productive again. This probably means less time for Netflix binges. Ultimately, I want to focus on this blog again which allows me to explore my two favorite things: fashion and creativity.
As a devout devotee to all things black and white (and also gray), I’m surprised to be gravitating towards neutrals this summer, particularly beige. Although a classic and beautiful color, I personally find it hard to wear with my skin tone, in fear of that “naked” look that isn’t really appropriate for work. However, I recently discovered that COS had quite a few options that leaned more towards the blush or cream side of the spectrum. Especially perfect for us, medium-tan ladies!
Shirt dresses are my favorite go-to for work wear. I particularly love the wide neckline detail, a departure from the standard collar. The lower, offset pocket gives it a modern feel and is a refreshing take on a classic piece. Since the step-hem length is a little longer, especially on a petite girl like me, I paired the dress with my favorite heels to elongate the legs, and rolled up the sleeves to show a touch more skin. I finished the look with delicate little earrings to allow the simplicity and modernity of the dress to shine through.
It feels good to be back!
