I wake up in the morning feeling like P-Did…
Yeah, I wish. Usually the alarm goes off and I end up hitting the snooze button at least 3 (or 7) times. I peel one eye open, look at the time, realize that I’m late for work and usually drag the covers over my head, wondering if I could magic another 5 minutes before I REALLY have to get up.
I roll out of bed, gasp at my reflection in the mirror, and start my morning ritual. This usually includes standing in my closet, staring at everything I own, and coming to the conclusion that I have nothing to wear. With the clock ticking, I toss on the easiest outfit I can put together and run out the door.
I know I’m not alone in this and for days like these, I love to find effortless pieces to keep in my closet that I can just throw on and still be confident that I’m putting my best [dressed] foot forward.
I love this blouse for it’s details: the textured fabric, the peplum silhouette, the curved seaming, and the unfinished, frayed edges. It’s these details that elevate it from a frumpy top to a chic blouse. Pairing it with a green skinny jean and flat black booties, creates a simple but sleek look that’s great for work or a casual night out.
The piece de resistance is, of course, the statement necklace. I LOVE a big statement necklace, and this one has been lovingly dubbed as the “chain mail necklace.” It’s one of my favorites because it always adds interest and edge to the simplest outfits without overpowering rhinestones or bright colors. For that reason, I think it’s totally appropriate for almost any occasion, including the workwear.
And sometimes, after a cup of coffee, that statement I’m making might include a little dancing. Maybe I do feel like P-Diddy… just not when I wake up? 🙂
